Wisconsin Department of Health Services Awards State-Wide Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Contract to Veyo
March 3, 2020
SAN DIEGO, March 2, 2020 (Newswire.com) – Veyo, a national leader in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT), today announced the company has been selected by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to serve as the state-wide NEMT broker. The contract will be one of Veyo’s largest to date, totaling approximately 250,000 rides per month for over one million members. Veyo currently manages transportation for over 3 million covered lives in the six states in which they operate.
Veyo applies its market leading technology platform to track each trip in real-time to ensure every Medicaid member is picked up and dropped off at their scheduled medical appointment safely and on time. This technology, along with Veyo’s flexible network of transportation providers made up of healthcare-trained rideshare drivers and privately-owned fleet operators, has allowed the company to achieve an average on-time trip rate of 97.1 percent.
“Everyone at Veyo is excited to bring our technology and our services to Wisconsin,” said Veyo President, Josh Komenda. “Veyo introduced a completely unique, superior NEMT model in 2015, and since then we have been working to find new ways to improve it. By developing and introducing new technology, providing Medicaid-specific training for drivers and call center employees, and establishing cooperative relationships with stakeholders at all levels, our goal is to ensure Medicaid members in Wisconsin – and any other state where we operate – never miss an appointment.”
Wisconsin brings the total number of states Veyo operates in to seven. The others include; Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Michigan and Virginia.
The Veyo Provider Network team will soon begin the process of recruiting and training potential rideshare drivers, as well as contacting current Wisconsin Medicaid transportation providers, and will be facilitating regional meetings to meet and train new and existing transportation providers who choose to enroll with Veyo. Veyo rideshare drivers and commercial providers must meet extensive safety requirements and undergo full background checks, as well as training on ADA compliance, HIPAA compliance and CPR certification.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Veyo will partner on notifying all state Medicaid enrollees currently utilizing NEMT services throughout Wisconsin via email and direct mail, in addition to conducting local information sessions and outreach meetings.
