Veyo Works From Home – Episode 8
May 22, 2020
At Veyo, we’re all looking forward to a three day weekend in honor of Memorial Day. Time to relax, get outside, and enjoy some extra time off our computers (except for all the fun stuff happening below!). But first, a big thank you to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This weekend is about them. We wish you a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.
If you’re longing to celebrate Memorial Day…
- Check out the National Memorial Day Concert online this year on Sunday evening. Christopher Jackson, who originated the role of George Washington in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical “Hamilton,” will kick off the tribute with his rendition of the national anthem. Cynthia Erivo, Trace Adkins and Renée Fleming are among the other performers scheduled to appear.
- Genealogy site Ancestry plans to host a virtual event with performances, interviews and a special tribute to the 75th anniversary of World War II. The 45-minute event will be hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and is set to feature Memorial Day tributes and a performance by singer-songwriter Tori Kelly, music from the Lincoln Way marching band from New Lenox, Ill., and interviews with veterans. RSVP on their Facebook page.
- If you need to get out and run, you can join the Remember the Fallen Virtual Run and run 21K with others around the country in honor of Memorial Day.
- Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Arlington National Cemetery with their new online exhibit.
If you need inspiration in the kitchen…

- Love Shake Shack? They’ve put out a new set of Zoom backgrounds for you that will make all your coworkers super hungry.
For some entertainment…
- Miss the 90s? If you were a fan of video games you may remember the Chex Quest game Chex Mix released in 1996 (apparently the CD was packages in their cereal boxes??). They’re bringing it back with a Chex Quest HD version!
- John Legend is performing live on Amazon at 1pm EST today.
- If you need to get your feet moving, join a virtual tango festival this weekend from the Philadelphia Tango school.
- Check out the Kennedy Center’s Couch Concerts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4pm EST.
- If you’re a Mastercard user and you’re missing out on those VIP experiences, you can still get them online! The online events series is hosted by Mastercard global ambassadors, including acoustic sessions with musician Camila Cabello, cooking tutorials with professional chefs and a Q&A session with rugby star Bryan Habana and tennis player Naomi Osaka.
- Amazon just launched their first major video game on Wednesday. It’s called Crucible.
If you miss your sports…
- Live sports are slowly coming back! This time it’s the PGA and the NFL (sort of). Watch Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning team up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady this Sunday on “The Match: Champions For Charity.” You can also enter to win free beer and a golf beer cart from Michelob Ultra!
- During the month of June you can grab a SKITTLES Pride Pack and support LGBTQ+ communities as they donate $1 to GLAAD for each pack sold!
For the little ones…

- This past Wednesday, Disney brought back The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC. Tune in next week for Thor: The Dark World.
- The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles has moved their insect collection online! Check out Spiky, Hairy, Shiny: Insects of LA. The online exhibit offers interactive and multimedia components to complement the images and to engage families and children of all ages, including at-home activities for kids such as building a bee hotel and starting an insect journal.
- If you need a new book, Julie Andrews is reading some of her favorites online.
If your new at-home computer setup is causing you pain…

Lastly, if you or someone you know is working on the front lines of COVID-19 as a doctor, nurse, paramedic, EMT, or other healthcare worker, a bunch of companies are offering discounts as a way to say thank you. Also, a big thank you from everyone at Veyo!
