Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Selects Veyo as Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Broker

April 5, 2016

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Veyo, the next generation of healthcare patient logistics, announced today their selection as the official broker of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) to serve Idaho Medicaid-eligible participants statewide. Veyo’s NEMT services will be available to participants starting July 1, 2016, working with more than 100 transportation providers at launch.

Veyo specializes in NEMT and uses its advanced technology platform to monitor every trip and ensure each participant gets picked up and delivered to their destination safely and on time. Veyo launched its Independent Driver-Provider (IDP) program in the Arizona market in fall 2015. Veyo’s unique model leverages a highly-flexible and scalable fleet of providers in private vehicles and achieves a 99.6 percent on-time trip performance average. With a combination of its IDPs and traditional commercial fleet partnerships, Veyo offers the safest, most reliable and on-time service possible, while also at a lower cost than competitors. By combining a technology-first approach to patient transportation with a trained support staff available 24/7/365, Veyo reduces healthcare costs and improves healthcare outcomes for Medicaid and Medicare providers and their participants across the country.

“Each year, nearly 4 million Medicaid recipients nationwide don’t reach their healthcare appointments due to transportation problems,” says Josh Komenda, president of Veyo. “Missed appointments often result in poorer healthcare outcomes and worsened conditions, increasing healthcare costs. Veyo is aiming to improve the standard of access in Idaho by bringing our next-gen healthcare logistics model to the state, where Medicaid enrollment is more than 16 percent of the total population.”

Veyo’s business model is centered on technology and real-time analytics. IDPs work within the Veyo system to improve both service and quality of the NEMT industry. Veyo uses both mobile- and cloud-based technologies and predictive analytics to understand supply and demand in real time and adjust dispatch schedules and lead times.

The Veyo Provider Network team is actively seeking potential IDPs, as well as contacting current Idaho Medicaid transportation providers, and will be facilitating regional meetings to meet and train new and existing transportation providers who choose to enroll with Veyo. Veyo IDPs and commercial providers must meet extensive safety requirements and undergo full background checks, as well as training on ADA compliance, HIPAA compliance and CPR certification. IDHW and Veyo will partner on notifying all state Medicaid enrollees currently utilizing NEMT services throughout Idaho via email and direct mail, in addition to conducting local information sessions and outreach meetings.

Veyo is headquartered in San Diego, Calif., with regional offices in Arizona, Colorado and Texas. Veyo will open another regional office in Boise, Idaho, in May 2016.
